Mount Compass Golf Course receives new Toro Equipment

Located in the heart of South Australia’s beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula, the Mount Compass Golf Course is an 18 hole public golf course and residential development, an easy 45 minute drive from Adelaide’s CBD and close to several of SA’s popular tourist destinations. This puts the course in a perfect spot and summer months are thus very popular with people wanting to play at the immaculate looking golf course.

Superintendent Philip Tripodi (who recently got nominated for the excellence in Turf Management award by the SAGCSA) is aptly assisted by his team of 4, consisting of Matthew Overall, David Roser, Matthew Lord and grounds assistant Kellie King. Kellie is one of a growing number of women working in the turf industry. She joined the crew earlier in the year and is loving her job.

Recently the team took delivery a new Toro HDX Workman vehicle and a Toro Sand Pro 3040 bunker rake, which has already been put to work on the course’s 90 bunkers. These complement a fleet of mainly Toro equipment: 2 Toro Reelmaster 5510 fairway mowers, a Greensmaster 3150 and an older Workman MDX as well as 3420 Greensmaster TriFlex Hybrid mower with Flex suspension, whereby the cutting units float freely over contours and undulations of the green resulting in a superior quality of cut and aftercut appearance.

Irrigation at the course also consists of Toro, with 730, 780 and T7 sprinklers and Toro valves installed. Water for the irrigation system is stored in 2 dams totaling 65 megaliters. These are topped up by 4 bores during summer months.

The water drawn from bores and used on the course is of such high quality it is sold as drinking water to residents in the surrounding golf course estate and offered in the Range Restaurant in the clubhouse. Monitoring the water quality and supply compliance requirements is also a part of the team’s responsibilities.
Stage 2 of Mount Compass Golf Course Estate residential subdivision has recently been released for sale with some golf course frontage blocks still available.
