The Fearnley Dawes Athletics Track in Newcastle received a new Toro Workman MDX valued at over $15,000 from The Toro Giving Program.
The much-needed vehicle will be used to assist with day to day maintenance and operations including setting up for school carnivals, weekly Little Athletics Competitions and daily grounds maintenance activities.
Recently the athletics track underwent a major upgrade whereby a new International Standard track and field surface and high performance wheelchair sports training lane was installed.
The donation was secured via The Toro Company "Giving Program" which endeavors to assist charities and not for profits in managing grounds and facilities.
“We are pleased to offer the management committee of the Fearnley Dawes Athletics Track this vehicle to help them develop this venue. Toro understands the work that volunteer sports organisations do in providing opportunities for our community and wish to help where we can,” said Toro Australia Director of Sales & Marketing, Laurence Bingham.
The Fearnley Dawes Athletics Track management committee Chair Sean Scanlon was full of praise for the generosity of the Toro Giving Program.
“We were blown away by Toro’s acceptance of the donation request that our on site Facility Manager submitted in July. Running this facility is a labour of love for all our committee along with the committees from our other user groups. This vehicle will be shared by everyone and will increase our collective capacity to manage the site and deliver more opportunities for the community.”
Representatives from the Management Committee, Cooks Hill United Football Club and Newcastle City Little Athletics were all on hand to receive the vehicle.
